The Colonial Height Employee of the month was Brownfield local, Priscilla Rodriguez. The Oak Grove employee of the month was the hard working full time sub, Bianca Gamez. The BMS employee of the month was Breanne McCleskey for her “leadership” and ,“she does a great job building relationships with parents and students.” The BHS employee of the month was Mary Lou Jackson. She was born in the Philippines, but now she works in Brownfield. Her department chair said she was, “sweet and kind, but also holds people accountable.”

Read moreBrownfield ISD is close to finishing its newest project, A brand new gym along with locker rooms for varsity, JV, and visiting teams. The facility also has a separate weight room for the Lady Cubs with specific labeling on the equipment and the floor saying Lady Cubs. The main gym will be finished off with a beautiful video board and scoreboard. Alongside the new gym will be an auxiliary gym. Brownfield ISD, hopes to be done with the facility in time for graduation. Jason Pearson wutg 806’s hopes to host the 806 All-Star basketball game in the new facility on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5.
Read moreNew tech is redefining our world, and Brownfield ISD is allowing it to redefine education. Brownfield ISD is offering a course, catered to the Gifted and Talented students called CubsRise. In the class, students can study and complete projects geared towards a variety of STEM and art related topics, they call it STEAM. For example, the class offers courses on drones, podcasting, and more. The future is here, and Brownfield ISD isn’t trying to hold onto the past. That was the sentiment of Superintendent Chris Smith who originally envisioned the class.
Read moreImportant changes that focus on better communication with the community are coming to BidCorp. Recently, a new executive director was appointed to BidCorp, Gina Kelly. She has a news and media background, so she will be updating BidCorp’s website and creating a BidCorp blog. “Which I think will be phenomenal for getting the community to know who BidCorp is,” said BidCorp Chairman Steve Carter. He continued, “That’s one thing that Gina is going to be about is getting out…through social media and saying this is what we do with the money, this is what we can and can’t do.”
