The City of Brownfield held a public meeting on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the fireworks show celebration. The public meeting was led by Mayor Tom Hesse, City Secretary Kelly Burris, City Manager Jeff Davis, Eric Horton, and Layne Marlow. The committee met to discuss the 2022 Firework Show and Celebration. The committee was in unison that last year’s Centennial Celebration was a success.

The board began the meeting by recognizing the January Student of the Month Brooklyn Jackson, and following the presentation the board presented the Employees of the Month Melinda Hammons of Colonial Heights, Rebekah Swaringen of Brownfield High, April Berry of Brownfield Middle School, and Taylor Staggs of Oak Grove. The board presented each individual with a plaque and a gift card.

Read moreThe Brownfield Industrial Development Corporation (BIDCorp) Board of Directors met Monday afternoon following the arrest of director Brian Brisendine. Chairman Steve Carter led the board of directors into executive session to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of the executive director with City Attorney Matt Wade. Following a 24 minutes discussion the board returned to a public session to announce their decision.
