One of my favorite projects from the past 20 years is “The First 40 Days” concept, which was developed through an initiative sponsored by Bayer Crop Science. The goal of the project was to bring experts in all fields of cotton production together to discuss the most important factors in cotton production management. It was stated in the post-session comments that “much of the crop’s primary yield potential is determined during the first 40 days.”

Read moreThe Brownfield ISD School Board met on Monday morning at 7a.m. for their regularly scheduled meeting. This marks the first meeting of the School Board at its newly designated time of 7 a.m. on the third Monday of each month. The meeting was kicked off with a welcome from board president Geoff Cooper and followed up by a report from superintendent Chris smith, who was recognized later in the meeting. The board approved the framework for the Strong Foundations Literacy Grant along with approving the cancellation of the general election for the board of trustee election that is set for May 6. The board also approved certification of unopposed candidates for the general election of the board of trustee election. Before adjourning, the school board announced Edgar Rivera as the new technology director who will start June 1 of this year.
