Western Peanut Growers Association (WPGA) will be holding the 40th annual meeting on Thursday, March 30, 2023, beginning at 10:00 am at the Gaines County Civic Building (405 NW 5th Street), in Seminole, Texas. The Business Meeting is expected to start the session. There will be an election of association directors for three expiring terms. Guest Speaker Tom Sell will be bringing the latest information regarding the 2023 Farm Bill. We think this meeting will be beneficial for all area peanut farmers. Doughnuts and coffee will be served.
Read moreThe Plains Cotton Growers Inc. 66 th Annual Meeting has been set for Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the Overton Hotel and Conference Center in Lubbock. Walk-in registration as well as a buffet breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the program will commence at 9:00 a.m. This year’s program will feature keynote speaker John Kriesel. Kriesel is a combat veteran who served in Iraq and is a former State House Representative in Minnesota. While in Iraq he lost three friends and was tragically injured yet came home with a powerful message of hope and living testimony to the value of a positive attitude to overcome any challenge.

Read moreOne week after the Lady Cubs outstanding performance in the Regional Powerlifting meet it was the boys turn as they met up in Sundown with 22 other schools to compete and see who would earn a strip to the state meet. Overall, it was a good meet for the team as they placed 6 th out of 22 teams which is rather impressive considering they only sent 6 competitors to the competition. Mikey Perez was one of three lifters who placed as he earned 5th in the 305 Weight Class. Austin Ferriera competed in the 220 Weight class and earned a 2nd placed finish earning him a spot in the State Meet. Finally, Francisco Garza competed in the 198 weight class where he earned a 1st place finish also qualifying him for the State meet. Including the girls state qualifiers the Brownfield Powerlifting Program is sending a total of 10 lifters to the state meet.
