The Uvalde school board delayed the start of the school year to Sept. 6, giving families and the district more time to prepare following the tragedy. With so much tension in the air for Uvalde, Brownfield students along with other students at schools across Texas wore maroon and white on Tuesday in support of Uvalde to show the school district that they aren’t alone in this time of need. To show support for the return of Uvalde students and staff, several school districts all across Texas posted on social media, asking their students and staff to wear maroon and white. Principle Ontiveros added, “Brownfield ISD took to social media and just encouraged us and the students in all campuses to wear maroon to support the community of Uvalde”.
