Funeral service for Mildred “Joyce” Bohler, 88, of Brownfield will be 2:00 pm Friday, June 25, 2021 at Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ken Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Brownfield Funeral Home. She was the kind of person that if you knew her, you would never for get her. Mildred “Joyce” Bohler of Brownfield, TX left earth to embark on her heavenly journey on June 19,2021. Joyce was born on July 26,1932 in Honey Grove, TX. She was the oldest of nine children. She married Raymond Bohler on January 14, 1950 in Fannin County, TX. They had two children and made a life in the west Texas area in various towns, but spent the majority of their lives in Brownfield, TX. She and her sister Mary relocated to Lubbock in 2019 to be closer to family. Mary was dear and special to Joyce. In addition to being sisters, they were best friends. Joyce was a successful “Avon Lady” for almost forty years. In her career, she earned many prizes and trips, and could never stop selling because her “customers wouldn’t let her.” Her friends, customers, and family meant the world to her. She loved people and loved life. She enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking, sewing, crafts and gardening. She also loved makeup, shoes and jewelry, and always wore a smile. She possessed the gift of hospitality and knew how to make people feel special. She loved to spoil her five grandchildren and was so proud of each of them. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Raymond; her parents Walter Hohenberger and Gwendoline Stunkard; her brothers Joe Hohenberger and LW Hohenberger, and many more friends and family. She is survived by three sisters: Mary Edwards of Wellman, TX; Dean Cox of Brownfield TX; Ola Buchanan of McFarland,CA, three brothers: John Hohenberger of Midland, TX; Tommy Stunkard of Lubbock,TX; Jackie Hohenberger of Stanton,TN; her son Jim Bohler and wife Terri of Muleshoe, TX; her daughter Elaine Saurage and husband Jodie of Boerne, TX; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren: Heidi Bohler of Northampton, MA; Matt Bohler and wife Tina of Muleshoe,TX (Garison, Jason, Emmaline, Josslyn, Bentley); Jamie Shipp and husband Gene of Lubbock ( Abby, Jaxon); Randy Bohler of Lubbock,TX; Eli Woolls of Corpus Christi,TX; and a large and very loved extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and network of friends who she called family.

Isaiah Isaac “Bubba” Valdonado was born in Lubbock, Texas on November 26, 1995, to Isaac and Mary Valdonado. He graduated from Brownfield High school in 2014 where he was involved with band and football. His fellow teammates knew him as “Big I.” He graduated from South Plains College in 2017 with an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design. After college he was employed by Our Promise Youth Academy in Brownfield. During his employment he touched the lives of many children along with the people that he worked with. Isaiah had a passion for making the children of the youth academy feel encouraged and loved. Isaiah was an avid gamer and enjoyed playing online with his friends and fellow gamers. Growing up, Isaiah found his love for animals with his three dogs Oreo, Cookie, and Petra and two cats Peanut and Lexi. Isaiah was a simple person and could normally be found gaming at home or on a rare occasion out with his close friends. Isaiah was a devoted catholic and had received all of his sacraments. Isaiah Isaac Valdonado, a lifelong resident of Brownfield, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on June 18, 2021, at the age of 25 after battling a rare illness in the hospital for 33 days. Isaiah is survived by his mother Mary Valdonado, his sister Vanessa Valdonado, his brother Matthew Valdonado, his nieces Mikah Valdonado and Mariah Gonzales, and his nephews Jeremiah Hernandez, Jaedon Perry, and Mark Gonzales. He is preceded in death by his father Isaac Valdonado, his brother Samson Valdonado, his nephew Calib Valdonado, his uncle Jerry Valdondo, his maternal grandmother Concepcion Martinez, his paternal grandfather Seferino Valdonado, and his paternal grandmother Hortencia Valdonado. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. The funeral services for Isaiah will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Thursday June 24, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Father Seth Lorenz. Visitations will be held at Brownfield Funeral Home Tuesday and Wednesday, June 22 and 23, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and rosaries will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on both days.

Alton (Pete) Pettiet passed away on June 18, 2021 at the age of 87. Pete was born on March 18, 1934 in Shallowater, Texas to Clifford and Ruby Pettiet. He moved to Ropesville in 1942 and graduated from Ropes High School in 1951. He married his high school sweetheart, Charleen Armstrong, on June 6, 1954 at First Baptist Church of Ropesville. They were married for 66 years until her death on April 20, 2021. Pete can best be described as a man who let his light shine in such a way that he glorified his Heavenly Father in all he did. He loved the Lord as reflected by his kindness, gentleness and concern for people. He loved his family and was faithful to his wife, was a loving father, PawPaw and brother. He loved his church family and served as a deacon for over 60 years. He loved the Ropesville community having served as Mayor and City Councilman, and the Ropesville Cemetery Association. He loved South Plains College and served on the Board of Regents for 32 years. He enjoyed serving meals to students at the Baptist Student Ministry at SPC for many years. He loved talking to his friends and playing dominoes with his buddies. Pete worked as a farmer, fertilizer salesman and was a Germania Insurance Agent for 31 years. Pete is survived by his daughter, Cliffa Herron (Grady) of Brownfield, Texas; his son Bradley Pettiet (Karon) of Lubbock, Texas; five grandchildren, Micah Riddle (Curtis) of Dallas, Texas, Tyler Herron of Austin, Texas, Lauren Thacker (Kevin) of SE Asia, Jordan Hickner (Brian) of Great Falls, Montana and Emily Stabeno (Kadon) of Williamsburg, Virginia; five great grandchildren, Regan Riddle Nytlie Herron, Rhett Riddle, Nora Hickner and Riley Thacker. Also survived by sisters Noma Lee Evans of Lubbock, Sue Humble of Snyder and brother Roger Pettiet of Shallowater. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charleen, parents Clifford and Ruby Pettiet, great-grandaughter, Karsyn Lee Thacker, sisters Lois Wynn and Pat Littrell. Visitation was Monday, June 21 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Venue at Combest Family Funeral Home, 2210 Broadway, Lubbock, Texas. Services were held Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Ropesville with burial followed at the Ropesville Cemetery. Alvin Edward Faulk Mirll, 85, of Brownfield, TX, who was born June 30, 1935, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 07, 2021. Raised in Jonesboro, AR, he moved to Brownfield in 1945 and then married the love of his life, Carol Ann Howard, on May 27, 1956. The couple soon welcomed their two sons, Lonnie Alvin and Terry Lee. Over the years, Alvin proved his love for West Texas and his local community in many ways, including once even serving as a City Council member. He enjoyed sharing stories about Brownfield’s history with others, such as how the town had grown since his arrival in 1945 and how the park of donated land located by the Chamber of Commerce had been sliced in half and the adjacent hill had been flattened by the highway department to put in the highway through town. He enjoyed pointing out the intersection where he first saw Carol Ann, and he still enjoyed making circles along “the drag.” As a successful businessman, he owned several automotive repair shops, enjoyed custom combining, and ran Mirll Realty. He was an inventor, an avid lover of classic Country and Christian music, knew Bob Wills and many famous country musicians personally, and once helped repair Gene Autry’s car when he broke down in Brownfield. Alvin especially enjoyed neighborly company for breakfast while he drank his hot coffee and dipped his sausage biscuits in Brer Rabbit syrup. He loved having Chief and Maggie to pet on and watching his backyard cats frolic at the backdoor or chase birds around his front yard birdfeeder. Alvin had a very strong faith in God and understood His goodness and righteousness. As a longtime member of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Slaton, TX, Alvin helped build the new church, served as Music and Sunday School leader, and as a board member. More recently, he became a highly welcomed member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Brownfield, TX. As a long-term member of The Gideons International, Alvin also highly enjoyed attending Tuesday morning prayer breakfast opportunities with his fellow Gideons. One of Carol Ann’s poems expresses the sentiments felt by many of Alvin’s loving friends now left behind: “It’s been four years since we began to be bound as one/To share together, ups and downs ’til our lives are done/This day is sacred because it’s you that I love/It was no accident we met. God made you my love/I’m counting on another year and hoping for more/You mean more to me than what some spend a fortune for.” (Carol Ann Mirll, 1960) Alvin is preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Ola Faulk Mirll, his wife, Carol Ann, and his younger son, Terry Lee Mirll. He is survived by his son, Lon and Sharon Mirll of Lubbock, TX, daughter-in-law, Molly McLeod Mirll; five granddaughters: Jennifer Mirll of Lubbock, TX, Bryony Robison of Midvale, UT, Jeanette and Teresa Mirll of Midwest City, OK, and Daphne Kropf of Norman, OK; and four great-grandsons-Lennon and Harper Friedman, Gene Robison, and Peter Kropf. A Memorial will be planned for a future date in Brownfield, TX.

JoAnn R. Kennedy went peacefully to see the Lord and her beloved husband John D. Kennedy on June 12, 2021. JoAnn was born in Taft, Texas on May 17, 1944, and was raised by her loving grandparents Calistro and Maria Peralez. Her family moved to Brownfield, Texas in the late 50’s were she lived for 30 years and raised her 3 children. She moved to Houston in the early 90’s where she met the love of her life, John D. Kennedy. They were married on July 29, 1995. JoAnn was a beautiful smart creative person who loved helping people with her gift of decorating for any occasion. She loved to craft, sew and loved to travel. She was loved by all who knew her. JoAnn is preceded in death by her 3 infant daughters, 2 brothers and a sister, her loving grandparents and her beloved husband John. JoAnn is survived by her children; Jocque Garcia and his wife Rosalita of Odessa, Texas, Janet Johnson and her husband Byron of Denton, Texas, Jennifer Baldridge of Mobile, Alabama and Sandy King and her husband Charlie of Cypress, Texas, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren that lovingly knew her as Nannie. The funeral is scheduled for Friday, 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4419 N. Main St. Houston, Texas 77009. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Cosme M. Jimenez, 64, of Brownfield passed away on June 15, 2021 in Lubbock surrounded by his loving family. Cosme was born on April 23, 1957 to Julian Jimenez and Mary Menjares in Olton Tx. Visitation will be Monday June 21, 2021 5-8 p.m. at Grace Funeral Care. Funeral Services will be Tuesday June 22, 2021 at 10 a.m. Cosme worked in agriculture as a farmer for many years. He enjoyed watching wrestling and spending precious time with his grandchildren. They were the light of his world. He loved his family also, especially his wife and children. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of many years, Esperansa A. Jimenez of Brownfield; three sons; Cosme Jimenez Jr; of Brownfield, George Jimenez of Brownfield, and Gilbert Hernandez (Tracy) of Ruidoso, NM. He also leaves behind his daughter; Melissa Jimenez of Pampa, Tx, 9 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. The care of Mr. Jimenez has been entrusted to the professionals of Grace Funeral Care Inc.

Johnnie William Howard, 73, of Clyde died Tuesday, April 13, 2021 in an Abilene hospital. A memorial service was held on May 15th at Hillcrest Church of Christ in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26 th at Terry County Cemetery in Brownfield. Johnnie was born October 11, 1947 in Brownfield to William (Bill) and Olivia (Boring) Howard. He graduated from Union High School in Terry County in 1966. He married Brenda Gaither in Brownfield on November 19, 1971. Johnnie worked for TxDot for 38 years, retiring as maintenance foreman. They moved to Clyde from Brownfield in 2005, to be closer to family. He was a proud Texan and a very proud Pappy of six beautiful granddaughters. He was an avid Texas Tech fan and fan of his hometown teams, Clyde and Brownfield. He also loved the Dallas Cowboys, a passion he shared with his sons. Johnnie loved hunting, fishing and being with his family. He was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Brenda Howard of Clyde; children, Heather McClure and husband Scott of Abilene and Jason Howard and wife Allison of Keller; sister-in-law Iola Howard of Noble, Oklahoma; two brothers, Donnie Howard and wife Lois of Brownfield and Ricky Howard and wife Cathy of Anson; six granddaughters, Megan and Bethany McClure of Abilene, Jessie Howard of Nocona, Harper, Bailey and Ellis Howard of Keller; mother-in-law Dorey Gaither of Clyde; sister-in-law Dorey Brown of Lubbock; three nephews, two nieces and several great nephews and nieces. Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, his son William Wade Howard, brother Kennith Howard, father-in-law James Gaither and brothers-in-law, Dave and Kenneth Gaither.
