LUBBOCK – The Brownfield girls’ basketball team defeated the Friona Squaws 98-30 to improve to 6-0 in District 3-3A. The Lady Cubs played their home game at Lubbock Christian due to a power outage at Brownfield Middle School that effects their home court, but the change in venue did not slow down the Lady Cubs. The 98 points matches the most they have scored this season. The Lady Cubs finished with five players scoring in double figure led by Gabi Fields with 25 points, Deja Johnson with 21, Brianne Franco with 13, Dabria Blackwell and Tia Johnson with 10 points each. The Lady Cubs go into their bye week but face Lubbock Christian Lady Eagles on Tuesday in a non-district game with topoff at 8 p.m. They return to district action on Friday when they travel to Muleshoe. Tip-off is set for 6:15 p.m.
