LUBBOCK – The Brownfield boys’ basketball team defeated Friona 77-41 at Lubbock Christian on Friday night. The Cubs were active on the boards all night in grabbing 25 offensive boards in helping them get their offense going in the win. Devin Hines led the Cubs with 25 points and grabbed 7 boards with 4 on the offensive end. Jeremiah Tealer had 20 points with 3 offensive boards. Malik Mason led the team in rebounds with 10 including 4 on the offensive side. Tealer, Jojo Carrillo, and Quavience Busby led the team with 3 assists each. Busby had a team high 4 steals in the win. The Cubs improved to 5-0 in District 3-3A with the win.

Read moreThe Brownfield girls’ basketball team returned home and earned a comfortable 84-21 win over Lamesa on Tuesday night. The Lady Cubs improve to 6-0 in District 3-3A and continue in first place and in position to win back-to-back District 3-3A titles. The Lady Cubs had four players finish in double digit scoring with Ashley Ramirez and Deja Johnson both scoring 16 points a piece and Shy’la Blackwell and Gabi Fields both scoring 12 points each. Tia Johnson led the team in rebounds with 11 with 8 on the defensive boards and assists with 5. Fields led the team in steals with 8. As a team the Lady Cubs outrebounded Lamesa 36-21 overall, 33-27 on the defensive end, and 13-10 on the offensive end. They had 18 steals and 20 assists, and forced Lamesa into 13 turnovers.
