Last season the Brownfield girls’ basketball team was a surprise team finishing the season 29-6 overall, 11-3 in district for third place, making the playoffs, and reaching the regional quarterfinals. That was a 16 game swing from the previous year when the Lady Cubs finished 13-17 overall and 5-10 in district. The Lady Cubs will begin their 2020-21 season at home on Friday against Fort Stockton at 7:30 p.m. Brownfield coach Michelle Wyatt, who is in her sixth season with the team and fourth as the head coach, said this season the team will look to continue to improve.

The WU flag football team had the priviledge of practicing and scrimmaging with their parents on Nov. 1 at Texas Tech’s Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. According to Jerry Worley, one of the football coaches, the Wellman-Union Wildcat flag football team had a great time.

The final results for each Lady Cub in the regional meet is Lozano finished in 74th place with a time of 14 minutes, 59 seconds, and 30 tenths of a second and Garcia in 92nd place with a time of 15:15.30 in a race with over 110 runners. Myatt was proud of her players and the team as a whole.
