Read moreA Texas law requiring the display of the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms has been temporarily halted by a federal judge just before it was to take euect on September 1. Senate Bill 10, which was enacted in Texas in May 2025, requires public schools to display the Ten Commandments in every classroom. The law mandates that each classroom must display a poster or framed copy of the Ten Commandments that is at least 16 by 20 inches and clearly legible from anywhere in the classroom. Civil liberties organizations argued the law infringes on the separation of church and state and the right to free religious exercise.
