Brownfield receives visit from Lt. Governor Dan Patrick

Liz Adams Brownfield residents were invited to meet with Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick Tuesday during his stop at the Platinum H Steakhouse as part of a 131-city bus tour across Texas that began in August. Patrick’s campaign travel ahead of elections in November also included Plainview and Levelland. Rural voters have been the focus of the tour.

Representing Arnold Community Educational Services, Kaylee Suarez. Kaylee is the daughter of Terry Suarez & Kelly Suarez. She is a senior at Meadow High School where she is a Varsity Cheerleader, and a member of the basketball and track teams. Kaylee’s future plans include to one day open and run her own boutique. Her favorite experience of Harvest Festival has been getting closer to the girls that she may have not had the opportunity to know without this opportunity.

Brisendine sentenced to 12 years for child pornography

Former BIRCORP Director Brian Brisendine was sentenced by a federal judge in Lubbock to 12 years in federal prison on Sept. 8 after pleading guilty to one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography on Mar. 28. This type of offense can result in a five to 20-year sentence.

3rd Annual Suicide Awareness Walk

“No one is alone,” Kelli Mendez said. “That’s what the community tonight showed everybody.” This past weekend Brownfield had its 3rd annual Terry County Suicide Awareness Walk and to no suprise the amount of people who came to support this movement. The event had dozens of of stands with helpful information about suicide and how to spot it as well with a story by Renee Redding Ross on her encounter with suicide. Mrs. Ross lost her son in a battle with depression and suicide in 2013 and this past Saturday Mrs. Ross shared her recollection of the months leading to his death and the day of. After the story the people at event headed out the doors to walk around the track for the people who lost their lives to suicide and also to raise awareness. Many people at the event wrote the names of loved ones on the concrete with Chalk and with many holding posters of inspirational quotes and pictures of lost loved ones as well.

Randell Lee “Kenny” Lambert

Randell enjoyed bowling, scuba diving with his family any chance he could. In his free time you could catch him watching old John Wayne movies. He was a hard worker and cared for everyone around him. He met his wife Tina Graham and Randell is preceded in death by his brother Bobby Lambert and step father Jim Cornett.

Ruben Morin

Ruben was born on September 8, 1959 in Karnes City to Ruben and Olivia Morin. He married Katherine Sepeda on August 14, 1978 in Brownfield and had recently renewed their vows. He worked in the oil field industry. He was a very hard worker and enjoyed working outdoors. Ruben loved his wife, children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending his grandsons’ football and baseball games. He was very well known because of his love for people and the ability to build friendships everywhere he went. Ruben enjoyed fishing, casinos, barbequing and watching westerns and Netflix. Ruben was a very loving and caring Ruben is survived by his wife, Katherine Morin; daughter, Monica Davila; son, Michael Morin and wife Alaina; grandchildren, Mirium Rodriguez and husband Matthew, Xavier Franco, Nicholas N. Davila, Faith Davila, Anika Davila, Angelina Davila, Marius Morin and Aaralyn Morin; great grandchild, Natalynn Rodriguez; father, Ruben Morin, Sr., mother, Olivia Lane; sister, Norma Morin and brothers, Jesse Morin and James Morin.
