BIDCorp Approves BISD Workforce Development Grant

The Brownfield Industrial Development Corporation(BIDCorp) held its monthly board meeting which included the monthly financial update, to discuss and approve the 2021-2022 fiscal year budget to be presented to the Brownfield City Council for approval. The Board also received an update on Bailey Toliver RV and on the improvements for the Rialto Theater. Additionally, the Board heard a request from Brownfield ISD Superintendent Chris Smith for a Workforce Development Grant with BISD and Lubbock Economic Development Alliance or LEDA.

Brownfield Board of Trustees approve 2021-2022 tax rate and budget

The Brownfield Board of Trustees met for their monthly regular meeting and received updates on preparations for the new school year which begins August 23. The trustees heard the Superintendent’s Report and the monthly financials and received the first update on athletics for the year. Brownfield Chief Financial Officer Teresa Montemayor presented the 2021-2022 tax rate, budget, and final budget amendments for approval. Originally, the agenda listed a closed session but Superintendent Chris Smith had no new information so it was canceled. Afterward, they heard about the new hirings and Smith told the board at this moment they are able to open school and have a staff ready to go. They are not fully staffed but they are staffed enough that it would not impede the start of school.

July sales tax revenue over $3 billion

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar annouced via press release the total revenue for sales tax in July was $3.39 billion. This is a 13.5 percent increase from last year, these numbers come from the sales made in June and are remitted to his office in July.

Services for Alberto Ramirez, of Brownfield, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at United Family Fellowship with Eric Martinez officiating. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday & Friday at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel. Alberto Ramirez, 36, of Brownfield went to be with the Lord in Kentucky. He was born July, 1, 1985, in Midland to Raul Ramirez and Rosa Cisneros. Albert married Regina Flores on May 26, 2012, in Las Vegas. Alberto was a hard-working man whose life revolved around his children. He enjoyed the outdoors and being around his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Hermilo Ramirez Natividad D. Ramirez; uncle, Gerardo Ramirez and cousin Roberto Ramirez. Alberto is survived by his wife, Regina Ramirez of Brownfield; two children, Ashley Ramirez and Alberto Ramirez, Jr.; parents, Raul Ramirez, Sr. and Rosa Cisneros; three brothers, Raul Ramirez, Jr. and wife Barbara, Ezequiel Ramirez and Arnold Ramirez; three sisters, Jessica Cisneros and husband Arthur, Rosie Ramirez and Dayami Martinez and husband Carlos; five nephews, Ezequiel Ramirez, Jr., Tommy Corona, Christian Corona; Julian Cordova and Aidan Martinez and a niece, Judith Ramirez
