The Brownfield track and field team competed at the Dimmitt meet on Friday, March 26, the last meet before the district meet in Denver City tomorrow(Thursday). Head coach Taheric Brantley is excited for what his team can do in district as they are peaking at the right time.

Read moreIn 2019 when Brownfield passed the bond to build a new high school and gym, Superintendent Chris Smith said this would be a great way to help not only the students but the community of Brownfield. And he intends to honor that as he has begun the process of organizing a basketball tournament to be played in the new school arena, which should bring in other schools and fans to Brownfield where they will stay in local hotels, eat at local restaurants, and shop at local venues. This was his plan from the moment they got the bond and began construction.

Uri hit the town and the state from Feb. 12 -19, which brought snow, ice, blackouts, frozen pipes, and even more damages. After the storm, the state’s electrical grid, ERCOT, came under scrutiny for not providing power to the residents and after the storm for the huge amount it charged residents who had power during the storm.
