Three felony indictments handed down against local police sergeant, details remain unknown

Ten days after three felony indictments were handed down against a local police sergeant, the city has not provided details about the allegations. On Monday, Aug. 7, the Brownfield Police Department released the statement below but did not answer follow-up questions from the News in which the News asked when BPD Sgt. Randi Rogers was hired, if she had been the subject of prior complaints and what exactly is alleged to have occurred on June 22, at a local convenience store.

Media Release: Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)

The Meadow Independent School District announced today it will operate the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program and CACFP Program for the 2023-2024 school year. Schools qualifying to operate CEP serve breakfast and lunch and supper to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.

USDA Previews Emergency Relief Assistance for Agricultural Producers Who Incurred Losses Due to 2022

FSA plans to roll out $3.7 billion in Emergency Relief Program (ERP) and Emergency Livestock Relief Program (ELRP) assistance to crop and livestock producers who sustained losses due to a qualifying natural disaster event in calendar year 2022. USDA is sharing early information to allow producers time to gather documents in advance of program delivery. Through distribution of remaining funds, USDA is also concluding the 2021 ELRP program by sending payments in the amount of 20% of the initial ELRP payment to all existing recipients.
