Resound presents Rural Internet to Commissioner’s Court

Terry County Commissioner’s Court met Monday morning to hear a presentation from Resound, a company that builds out internet in rural areas. “We’re asking for right around $800,000 from the county, and what this would allow us to do would be to build the three towers, install the new torana gear, and upgrade Brownfield and Meadows,” said a spokesperson from the company. “$800,000 is about three road graders, so I don’t know,” replied Terry County Judge Wagner. Recently, the FCC awarded the company Resound “just a little over $310 million to build out internet.” The award was a part of rural digital opportunity fund(RDOF). The company representatives explained the goal is to get broadband internet to individuals who live outside of city limits, in more rural areas. Judge Wagner then asked, “have y’all polled Wellman to how many people might need?” Resound said that they did not have an exact number but that Wellman was part of the 850 they had identified as being underserved, “and so we believe most there to be underserved today.”

It’s time to point out the PRIDE of the CUBS

I graduated from Brownfield High School 2002. My years in Brownfield were filled with many great memories. I played tennis for Brownfield High School, and fell in love with the sport during this time. Prior to tennis, I had several teachers who were incredibly influential in my life and made my time in BISD so enjoyable and filled with great memories. I was blessed with some great history teachers. Mr. Gaither and Ms. Blankenship made history fun and engaging. It was with these two teachers, during Middle School, that I really began to latch on to history. Mr. Decker continued to grow my love of history. I enjoyed sitting in class and just hearing the stories he would tell about various events. I will also never forget Ms. Mason. She was a teacher that was incredibly kind and welcoming. I ended up joining FCCLA with several friends, just because she made time in class fun. I would end up with some of my favorite high school memories when Ms. Mason took our LifeSmarts team to Austin to compete in the state tournament. We had no idea what we were getting in to, which was probably for the better. We beat the defending state champion, twice, on our way to a state championship. From there, we went to compete in Nationals at Washington D.C., and ended as the National Runner-Up.
