CUBS LOSE THIRD STRAIGHT, FALL TO WILDCATS

LITTLEFIELD – The Brownfield baseball team traveled an hour to visit District 3-3A opponent Littlefield on Tuesday, April 13. The Cubs went into the game having lost the last two games and looking to find its offense, having scored only three runs in their previous game. The Wildcats rode their home advantage and jumped on the Cubs pitching to hand Brownfield a 16-4 loss in five innings.

Lady Cubs hold off Lady Cats for third straight win

LITTLEFIELD – The Brownfield softball team traveled to Littlefield to face the Lady Cats in District 3-3A play. The Lady Cubs came into the game having scored 42 runs in their last two games, but could not replicate the same type of offense and played seven innings since losing to Lamesa. After coming from behind, the Lady Cubs pulled off an 8-5 win to improve to 6-1 in district. With three games remaining in district, Brownfield will host Muleshoe on Saturday, travel to Lamesa on Tuesday, and finish district on the road against Dimmitt on Saturday, April 24.

Texas 806 area code to dial 10 digits

On July 2020, the Federal Communications Commission or FCC presented a 69 page document to the House and Senate. The document was WC Docket No. 18-336, which in layman’s term was the implementation of the National Suicide Hotline Improvement Act of 2018. The docket made 988 the official three digit number to reach the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number and speak with one of their representatives. Before the docket the only way to reach the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline was to dial 1-800- 273-8255, which will stay in effect until July 16, 2022, but with the docket passing, dialing 988 is the official three digit number to reach them.

Brownfield Electric utility updates city council

At the last Brownfield City Council meeting held on Thursday, April 1, Cat Gonzalez, Electric Line supervisor, appeared before the council members to give an update and report for last year. In the report, Gonzalez showed the council what types of calls they receive and how many, showed the types of work they do each month, and who and when the repairs were made.

New voting machines are easy and safe to use

Early voting for Terry County is still a week away beginning Monday, April 19 and going until Friday, April 23, and the second chance being Monday, April 26 until Tuesday April 27. In order to prepare voters for the two early elections, Terry County Elections has set up the new voting machines for the public to come out and try. The voting machine and vote-counting machine are on full display allowing the public to actually cast a fake ballot as a way to see how the machines work, and if they have any questions there are always two workers who have received training ready to answer their questions. The entire experience is made to show how easy and safe the new voting machines are for Terry County voters.
