Chanda Jillann Skaggs, 49, of Meadow, passed away on March 6, 2021, in Hockley County. The Skaggs family will receive friends on Friday, March 19, 2021, from 5pm to 8pm at Grace Funeral Care Chapel in Brownfield, TX. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 10am at Grace Funeral Care Chapel in Brownfield, with interment to follow at Terry County Cemetery in Brownfield. Chanda was born on April 20, 1971, to Melvin and Karen (Smith) Herrington in Brownfield, TX. Chanda was an animal lover and most definitely loved her dog Meme. She was a peaceful woman who loved plants, especially her cactuses. She loved her family and children unconditionally. She was extremely loved, and will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Karen, her husband, Brian Skaggs and one son, Dillon Skaggs.Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Justin Skaggs and Derek Skaggs; brothers, Gary Shaun Bishop, Ty Chandler; sister, Kelly Gibson; 14 grand-children, 8 nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Matt Bayer.
Read moreEvelyn Garnett Chenault of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the age of 92. She was born August 7, 1928 in Tahoka to Ed and Alma (Webb) Garnett. Evelyn grew up in the Draw/Redwine Community of Lynn County graduating from Brownfield High School in 1944. She owned and operated a childcare, preschool in Earle, Arkansas for many years. Teaching small children was pure delight for her. In 1998, she moved to Lubbock where she was a member of Sunset Church of Christ and a faithful servant to her Lord. Family was her greatest joy. Those left to cherish her memory are her three brothers, Ed Garnett of Vernon, TX, Don Garnett and wife, Anne, and Dennis Garnett, all of Lubbock; her children, Jim Tyler and wife Dara of El Campo, Texas, Nancy Cooper and husband Delbert, Larry Tyler, and Don Tyler, all of Lubbock; 9 grandchildren, Myrna Day of Kerrville, Lori Edwards of Lubbock, Trisha Tyler Miller and husband Jeff of Denver, Casey Tyler and wife Cynthia of Wharton, Nicholas Coffman and Jacob Tyler and wife Kelli of Lubbock; 16 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Venita Garnett, Jane Pearce, LaVerne Tomlinson, Jean Burbank, Wilma Little, Jo Griffith; sister-in-love, Flo Garnett; one great-grandson, Colin Tyler; and three husbands, W. J. Tyler, Robert Gammill, and B. J. Chenault. The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Combest Family Funeral Homes in Lubbock. A private burial service will be held at Grassland, Texas where grandsons and greatgrandsons will serve as pallbearers for their beloved Nanny. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2021 at Quaker Avenue Church of Christ.
