Possible rabies exposure at San Antonio Stock Show

The Texas Department of State Health Services is taking extra precautions after a Brangus heifer, shown by a student from Miller Grove ISD at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Feb. 11-14 had been assessed with possible rabies exposure. According to the Texas DSHS, a cow in the cattle barn during the stock show developed rabies and was capable of spreading the virus that causes it during those dates. The Brangus heifer was only outside of the barn while being shown and loaded and unloaded for transport.

Charlyce L. Arnold

On Sunday February 23, 2020 Charlyce L. Arnold passed away at the age of 67. Charlyce was born July 9, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late C.E. and Brenda Arnold. She received her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University in 1974, and was an educator for 30 years in Los Angeles, CA. After retirement she returned to her hometown of Brownfield to care for her mother and fulfill a dream to make Brownfield a better place. Arnold Community Educational Services (ACES) was organized February 2014. In 2016 Charlyce joined the Brownfield Chamber of Commerce and was named Terry County Citizen of the Year 2018 for her many services to the community. Charlyce is survived by daughter La’Nisha Arnold, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday March 6, 2020 from 12pm to 8pm at Grace Funeral and Cremation Care 1211 Lubbock Road in Brownfield. Visitation will continue Saturday March 7, 2020 from 9am to 11:00am at the First Baptist Church of Brownfield with service following at 11am. Interment will follow in the Terry County Memorial Cemetery.
