It was undoubtedly the best start that Brownfield has gotten off to all year long as the Malik Mason got the scoring started, followed by a pair of threes from K.J. Carroll, then a Brandon Anthony three to quickly make the score 11-0 in favor of the Runnin’ Cubs. Spearman would use a timeout to get settled in but to no avail as the Runnin’ Cubs tacked on 7 more to make it a 18-0 game in the first it wasn’t until there was 35 seconds left when Spearman would finally get their first point off a free throw. Brownfield carried a 18-1 lead going into the second quarter. In the second quarter Spearman finally appeared to settle down defensively and made life a little harder for Brownfield, but offensively could never get anything going in the first half due to the pressure of the Runnin’ Cub defense forcing turnover after turnover. It was a low scoring affair in the second, but Brownfield maintained a 25-19 lead going into the break. Coming out of the half both teams exchanged bucket for bucket as it appeared Spearman finally found their offense going a quick 3-3 from beyond the arc and cutting into Brownfields deficit.
