Brownfield Suffers First Loss in District Play to Littlefield

The #20 Brownfield Runnin’ Cubs fell Tuesday night to the Littlefield Wildcats 77-65. The injury bug bit hard for the Runnin’ Cubs as they were without 3 players heading into the game and early on in the first quarter, junior guard Quavience Busby took a hard fall which took him out for the rest of the game. At the end of the first quarter after a slow start the Runnin’ Cubs trailed 18-7. The struggles on offense continued in the second quarter as they were unable to connect on shots from the outside and went into the locker room trailing 34-18. Things never got easier for Brownfield as Littlefield kept the pressure on in the second half knocking down shots and playing hard on the defensive side. Despites efforts from Jojo Carrillo who had a game high 31 points it just wasn’t enough for Brownfield as they ultimately fell 77-65. The Brownfield Runnin’ Cubs will be back in action Friday night where they will welcome in Lamesa. Tip-Off for the game is set for 7:30 with a livestream of the game on brownfieldcubs.com
