NRCS Announces Conservation Assistance Funding for FY2023

The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Texas announced Fiscal Year 2023 financial assistance opportunities for agricultural producers and landowners for the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP), Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), Environmental Quality Incentives Program - Conservation Incentives Program (EQIP-CIC) and Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). While NRCS accepts applications for these programs year-round, producers and landowners should apply by the state-specific application “due by” dates to be considered for fiscal year’s funding. Ropes Coop ginned their first bale, October 28th at the Tokio plant. The grower was Jack Trey Welch. Pictured below is Brian Lehrmann-manager, Jack Trey Welch-grower, Kandace Welch-Jack’s wife, Krosslen-Jack and Kandace’s son and Joe Cuellar-gin superintendent. The best part is that 33 years ago Jack’s father had the first bale at Tokio gin and a young Jack at that time was in that picture as well.

The Fifth Annual Trick or Tractor Treat

On October 29, Whitehouse Parker, Farmhouse Vineyards and Terry County Tractor hosted the fifth annual Trick or Tractor Treat held at the Armory in Brownfield. A festive twist on the tradition, kids of all age’s wore cheerful costumes and went tractor to tractor collecting their Halloween goodies! Brownfield Farmers Coop and JFerg Pros, along with other local businesses, passed out treats. In addition to loads of candy, trick-or-treaters enjoyed activities like face painting and coloring, games and hay rides.

Brownfield Lady Cubs fall in Bi-District round against Alpine Lady Bucks 1-3

The Brownfield Lady Cubs volleyball season ended Tuesday night as they fell to the Alpine Lady Bucks 1-3. The Lady Cubs fought their way into the postseason clinching the 4 th seed and a playoff berth for the 6 th season in a row and first time under new head coach Courtney Vander Dussen. Brownfield traveled to Kermit, Texas for this first round matchup with the district 4-3A Champions in the Alpine Lady Bucks.
