Babe Ruth Regional Softball Tournament

A big-time softball tournament is coming to Brownfield. The Babe Ruth Regional Softball Tournament hosted by Terry County Youth Sports will begin on Tuesday, July 5. The tournament brings over 40 or 50 teams for non-stop softball with games starting on Wednesday, July 6 and ending on Saturday, July 9. On July 5 there will be opening ceremonies as well as introducing the teams. The Games will be held at the Brownfield Sports Complex.

Drive sober or get pulled over

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) wants to keep you safe on roads and highways this holiday weekend. Here in the Brownfield area DPS is expected to increase its enforcement to keep roads safer for the weekend. DPS sergeant Bill Robles tells the Brownfield News, “The biggest area that we have a problem with mostly is the Lubbock highway 62/82. All of the Brownfield folks will drive up to Lubbock where the barbeques and parties happen and then return after having a some drinks”

May the 4th be with you, RESPONSIBLY

The city of Brownfield is going to celebrate Independence Day in a big way this weekend, the local Police Department is gearing up to keep everyone safe while the celebration goes on. The 4th of July is all about celebrating our nation’s Independence but with that comes the dangers on the road especially if people drive under the influence. Brownfield Police Chief Tony Serbantez says the city is prepared, “We will have extra people working on the 4th of July”. They will be out observing the community making sure they are having fun but mostly making sure everything runs smoothly.”

IT'S TIME TO HIT THE GOLF COURSE! A retirement party for Mike Richardson was held on Wednesday at Lone Star State Bank. Richardson has been the bank president for 22 years, with over 40 years of total banking experience.
