The people of Brownfield came out this past week in the piping hot summer days to help out The Babe Ruth regional tournament. Terry County volunteers braved theheat to volunteer and help keep the fans, players, and umpires fed with delicious food and hydrated with tasty drinks.

Read moreGraveside service for Ruth Inez King, 91, of Brownfield will be held at Scranton Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Visitation will be held at Brownfield Funeral Home from 5-7pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. Ruth Inez King was born on September 1, 1930 to S. L. and Cora Cook in Cisco. She was a member of Brownfield Church of Christ. Alvin was a gin manager for many cotton gins in the area and Ruth was always by his side as his bookkeeper. She was a quiet and gentle spirt and a faithful servant to the Lord. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Hawkins King; parents, S.L. and Cora Cook and a son-in-law, Lee Martin. Ruth is survived by her son, Kyle King and wife Dayna; daughters, Patty Snider and husband John and Paula Martin; 8 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Jim grew up in Brownfield and graduated from Brownfield High School. He married Theresa Caffey December 14, 1979. Together they had 2 daughters, Kim and Penny. Jim became a salesman and worked oil field sales for 40 years. Jim and Theresa attended Quaker Avenue Church of Christ. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with family, and reading.
