Gina was born in Terry County and has lived here her whole life, so the success of this town and community is undoubtedly important to her. At a previous City Council meeting Brownfield residents arrived at sunrise to voice their passionate concerns regarding their safety and well-being. They wanted some improvements, and they wanted them quickly. They were unhappy with the unpaved roads outside of their houses. They wanted them paved to make travel easier with their vehicles, to stop reckless driving, and to keep the dust out of their homes. The city is “actually taking action on this thing now,” said City Manager Jeff Davis. The city is going to start “strip paving those streets.” Jeff Davis added, with a few more meetings to determine specific streets, “hopefully we’ll get this thing going by the summer.” Matt Wade, the City Attorney, said the agreement between the city and paving company is safe, “there’s not a lot of risk.”

Johnny graduated from Pampa High school and then received his Bachelor’s degree from Kilgore College. Johnny has worked for Halliburton for the last 15 years. He was a hardworking man. Johnny loved his motorcycle and enjoyed the outdoors. He is preceded in death by his father, John Roe.

She graduated from Brownfield High school in 1966 and moved to first Levelland and then Lubbock to attend both South Plains College and then Texas Tech to further her education. She married Phil Sooter September 1st, 1972 in Lubbock and they were married for almost 50 years. From 1974 to 1984 she and her husband Phil owned and operated Varsity Cleaners on University Avenue. She worked most of her life as a bookkeeper and retired in the mid 2000’s to manage her family’s farms. Marietta enjoyed gardening, dancing and Elvis.

Gonzalez was an important part of the track team this year where she competed in 5 events. She made it to regionals in the 4x200 M Relay, 200 M Dash, Triple Jump, Long Jump, and the 4x400 M relay. Gonzalez on the hard work and feeling of being able to sign to continue her career, “It feels amazing it was a lot of hard work to get where I am now. The coaches are amazing, they really pushed me to be better.
