Local coaches predict Final Four

The NCAA men’s basketball bracket has been released for the public to play its favorite game of guess the National Champion and the Final Four. Millions will fill out one bracket with pure guesses, another with statistics, another from guidance of the experts, and so on. But that is the fun of the NCAA tournament filling out the bracket and seeing what breaks it from Cinderella teams, how close to perfect your bracket can get, and how many brackets do you fill out in an attempt to get bragging rights over your friends. March Madness first round begins this weekend with many having to throw away their brackets after one bad upset decision.

City Council discuss city development and other items

The City Council meeting began with a prayer for wisdom and guidance to lead Brownfield to a good future. That future includes a beautiful rebuilt city pool facility, making for a fun summer for Brownfield and the surrounding area. At the top of the agenda: the city animal shelter. Currently the city is working to maintain the animal shelter to ensure that the animals are comfortable and safe, as well as insure that the shelter is up to the state’s standards. Police dogs “are a valuable asset to the force”, Police chief Tony Serbantez added. The city revenue report was presented by city manager, Jeff Davis. The finances were down for this period, however they are expected to rise during the summertime. Davis also mentioned that the federal reserve has stated that interest rates are going to be raised, giving the city a little bit more money.

Greyson Catarino Adolfo Arguellez

Greyson Catarino Adolfo Arguellez, 2, of Brownfield passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022. A visitation was held from 10 am to 8 pm on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel. Greyson was born on March 9, 2020, to Catarino Arguellez III and Jennifer Martinez. He was the strongest baby boy. Though he had to fight for two years, he still had a smile that would light up a room. Greyson loved his mom and dad. He enjoyed watching Moana and Trolls 2 and giving side eye to anyone who walked into the room. He was loved by so many. He is held by those who preceded him until his mom and dad can hold him again.
