The Brownfield cross country team participated in the Acuff Cotton Field Trot and had a successful meet on Tuesday, September 14. The Lady Cubs finished in first place and the Cubs came in second, with Brownfield having the top runner in the girls’ division and second place in the boys.

Read moreAfter repairing the front of the Rialto Theater and giving it a new paint job, the Brownfield Industrial Development Corporation (BIDCorp), brought in artist Calina Mishay to add a mural to the empty space above the letters. Mishay has been painting murals full-time for the past five years and her work can be seen in many locations including cities in Missouri, Oklahoma, in Texas, you can find her work in Midland, Eden, Brownwood, Abilene, and many other small towns. Her work can also be seen on Facebook and Instagram by searching her name.

He was in state at Brownfield Funeral Home for public viewing on Friday, September 24, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Frank passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 in Plainview. He was born December 4, 1932 in Gomez to Frank (Buck) and Ella Maurine Condra. Frank graduated from Ropesville High School. He married Margorie Yvonne Charter in Lubbock on May 23, 1969. He was always known for his smile and humor. Frank never met a stranger, and never let the opportunity to joke with someone pass him by. Frank loved his grandchildren very much; they were his pride and joy. He was very proud of their accomplishments and bragged about them with every opportunity. Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Margorie Yvonne Condra, and his parents, Frank and Ella Condra. Frank is survived by his four children, Vicki Stark and husband, Chris, Debbie Condra, Carl Condra, and Tim Condra; three grandchildren Justin Stark and wife Nicole, SammiJo McLain and husband, Shane, Jessi Schur and husband, Layton; four great grandchildren, Doc, Gracie, Kylee, and Wyatt; sister, Patsy Keller; and brother, Jack Condra.

The game had an extra motivation as the Cubs were looking to give their head coach Aarrhon Flores his first homecoming win as the Brownfield head coach. But on the night senior Gabi Fields was crowned 2021 Homecoming Queen, the football team was shut out for the first time this season in a game marred with questionable calls and no calls by the referees against the Cubs.
