After 41 years of teaching Eddie Nicholson, affectionately known as Mr. Nic, retired from Brownfield ISD at the end of the school year. Unfortunately, Mr. Nic’s retirement during COVID did not allow him to receive a proper send-off but members from the community decided to surprise him with a drive-by send-off Saturday morning.

Harriet Burleson Flache was born in Lubbock, Texas on November 17, 1953 to Noyce and Joe Burleson of Meadow. She graduated from Meadow High School and attended Southwestern University, Texas Tech and graduated from Southwest Texas State. She married Arthur Flache in Meadow in 1976. Their son, Sawyer Burleson Flache was born August 12, 1987. Her accomplishments and contributions ranged from excellence in high school theater to directing children’s community theater workshops. She was active in the Methodist Church, a teacher, a volunteer, a mentor, a friend. She was also a wonderful mother and a great Mimi to her granddaughters Kailynn and Corah. She was preceded in death by her mother Noyce and her beloved son Sawyer. She is survived by her father Joe, her granddaughters and her former husband. She fought cancer with steely resolve, working to the end. Brownfield Regional Medical Center is getting closer to opening its new extension to the hospital with Chief Executive Officer Jerry Jasper aiming for August 1. The extension will serve the purpose of extending the offers of the clinic, birthing rooms, and surgery.
