Texas Education Agency Pauses A-F Ratings for 2020-21 School Year

On Thursday the Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced the A-F ratings would be paused for the 2020-21 school year due to the ongoing disruptions associated with COVID-19. However, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test will proceed for the 2020-21 school year. TEA says it will be used to provide critically important information about individual students learning so teachers and parents can use it to help students grow. There are some school districts that incorporate the STAAR results into teacher evaluations, however, TEA is providing flexibility to allow those districts to remove that element this school year.
