LADY CUBS HOLD OFF LADY BRONCHOS

The Brownfield girls’ basketball team hosted Odessa High on Friday night in the first game of a home back to back. Both the Lady Cubs and Lady Bronchos came into the game in the midst of winning streaks with Brownfield having won all four games and Odessa winning its last three. In a very even match the Lady Cubs used a 24-8 second quarter run to create the separation needed to win their fifth straight game, defeating the Lady Bronchos 63-50.

LADY CUBS CONTROL LADY MUSTANGS

After defeating Odessa High on Friday night at home, the Brownfield girls’ basketball team returned to its hardwood court to face Lubbock Coronado, Saturday afternoon in a home back to back game. The Lady Cubs used a team effort to win their sixth straight game with a 69-41 win over the Lady Mustangs and remain unbeaten in the season.

MUSTANGS CHARGE PAST CUBS

The Brownfield boys’ basketball team had a difficult task against visitors Class 5A Lubbock Coronado on Friday night. What began as a close game that saw the Cubs compete with the Mustangs for one quarter, turned into a 96-54 blowout loss. The length, height, and athleticism of the Mustangs, which had three players miss dunk attempts in the game, hurt the Cubs causing them to start falling apart in the second quarter.

CUBS DROP BACK TO BACK GAMES

After losing at home to Coronado, the Brownfield boys’ basketball team traveled to Anson to face Rockwall Heath in the back end of a back to back. The Cubs suffered their second straight loss falling to the Hawks 85-51 Saturday afternoon.
