Harvest Festival kicked-off with the pageant

Six Harvest Festival Queen candidates took to the stage Thursday night, Oct. 8, to shine before a crowd of people. Throughout the past several months the candidates have gone to social gatherings, events, sold tickets, baked, crafted, practiced their talents, and pageant ceremony activities. The Thursday night pageant kicks off the annual Terry County Harvest Festival. The guest host of the event was Mud Flap, a popular radio personality for KLLL out of Lubbock. There were several dance routines from other guest performers and the candidates performed their talent that ranged from dancing, singing, and a monologue. Also on pageant night, the candidates choose one of their own to become Miss Congeniality and it is announced that evening. This year’s 2020 Terry County Harvest Festival Pageant Miss Congeniality award went to Madyson Horton who represents the Miss Brownfield Organization.

So let’s talk about voting. Next Tuesday, Oct. 13 early voting begins in Texas, six days earlier than usual because King Abbott, oh sorry, my bad, Texas Governor Greg Abbott extended it due to COVID-19. Some agree it’s too early and some agree it’s set at the right time. As for me? I already have my mind made up so it doesn’t matter to me, but it does for those who have not made up their minds and would like to see another debate, if that’s what you want to call it, to decide.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton releases new documents shedding light on criminal allegations

Among the documents Paxton released Wednesday was a June 10 referral from the Travis County district attorney’s office, which asked the attorney general’s office to investigate a complaint that appears to come from Nate Paul.

Brownfield tennis falls to Snyder at home

On Tuesday, Oct. 6 the Brownfield tennis team welcomed Snyder to Cubs’ tennis court for a duel. At the end of the duel, the Lady Cubs and Cubs fell to the Lady Tigers and Tigers 13-6. With the loss Brownfield falls to 7-5 on the season.
