Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Cargile officiating. Burial will follow at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. A family visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brownfield Funeral Home. Virgie was born on December 11, 1928 in a half dugout in Dora, NM to Thomas and Annie Henley. She married Clifford Franklin Chambers on December 1, 1947, they were married for 57 years. She was always involved with all six of her children’s activities. Anytime the family got together she always wanted them to play music together. Virgie was involved in the Quilting Guild and Art Association where she won numerous ribbons and awards for crafts, quilts, and paintings. She owned Granny’s Nook for two and a half years. She worked at multiple retail stores in Brownfield and was the manager over the middle school cafeteria for many years. Virgie was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Chambers; son, Royce Chambers; her parents Thomas and Annie Henley; great grandson, Ethen Stovall; two sisters, Adel Lloyd, Lavon Brooks; three brothers, T.J. Henley, Dewey Henley, and Chester Henley. Virgie is survived by five children, Regina Kuipers and husband Ivan of Cottonwood, AZ, Mike Chambers and wife Karen of Brownfield, David Chambers and wife Debbie of Aumsville, OR, Darla Chapman and husband Scott of Las Cruces, NM, and Darrell Chambers of Brownfield; twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernadine Wilson and a host of self-adopted grandchildren.

Mercedes was born in Thrall, TX on September 24, 1946, to Modesto and Dominga Ramirez. Mercedes Dunlap was a beautiful soul who loved her family very much. She was a loyal servant of Jehovah God and died peacefully in her bed at home surrounded by those who loved her deeply. Mercedes attended the LVN program at Houston Community College in Houston, TX. In 1992 Mercedes and her husband moved to Brownfield, TX. where she worked at Brownfield Regional Medical Center for 10 years. She loved her animal family Jessie and Max. She will be missed tremendously but her love of family will never be extinguished. Mercedes is survived by three sons, Lorenzo Martinez Jr., Randy Martinez and wife Gloria, Rene Martinez and wife Gracie; one daughter, Stella Martinez and spouse Johnny Salinas; two sisters, Olala Ramirez of Brownfield, TX, and Maria Torres of San Antonio, TX; two brothers, Juan Carillo and wife Luisa of Brownfield, TX, and Augustin Ramirez and wife Susie of San Antonio, TX; twelve grandchildren, Stephanie Martinez,and husband Victor Pena, Ramon Salinas Jr. and wife Jasmine, Johnathan Salinas and wife Luz, Kristella Diaz and husband Miguel, Karolyn Salinas and husband Ludwing, Joshua L. Martinez, Jeremy A. Martinez, Ty Garza, Nautica Rios, Beatrice Doege, and husband Dalyn, Andy Martinez, Christopher Martinez; and sixteen great grandchildren. Mercedes is preceded in death by her parents, Modesto and Dominga Ramirez; husband, Johnny Dunlap, two sons David Martinez and Richard Martinez; sister, Dominga Balero.

Janice Layne Dodson, age 66, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October 2, 2020. Jan was the first-born daughter of Bob and Nonie Mason on December 5, 1953 in Post, Texas. Jan attended Brownfield High School where she met Olen, the love of her life. They married on May 13, 1972 at Crescent Hill Church of Christ in Brownfield, Texas and just celebrated 48 years of marriage. Jan’s gentle, kind, and compassionate spirit reflected her deep love for Jesus. She was a simple person who asked for little and gave selflessly to her family and friends. Jan was always quick to listen and opened her home to all kids throughout the years. She joyfully worked for many years serving the senior citizens of the XYZ Club. Jan took great pleasure in cooking and serving her family, and everyone was welcome in her home. Jan is preceded in death by her father Bob Mason, son Cody Dodson, niece Drew Ann Baumann, nephew Dusty Smith, nephew Alexander Mason Miller, and Gary Lynn Wright, whom she loved like a son. Jan is survived by her mother Nonie Baze; husband Olen Dodson, son Charles Dodson and his wife Judy, son Chris Dodson, and Michael Wesley Gatewood, whom she loved like a son; sisters Marissa Carter and Julie Miller; grandchildren Tye and his mother Pepper, Summer and Stetson whom she loved as her own, Kendra, Morgan, Zak, Terra, Garrett and Tehya; great grandchildren Johnathan, Jeremiah, Cayden and Devin, as well as many other beloved nieces and nephews. Jan will be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
