It’s beginning

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The City of Brownfield and Brownfield Power & Light are getting into the Christmas spirit as they begin placing the lighted Christmas ornaments on the poles throughout the main roads in town. COVID fatalities now at 21 in Terry County

COVID-19 virus deaths continue to rise in Terry County with 21 being reported as of Tuesday. According to the South Plains Public Health District (SPPHD), Terry County now has 811 confirmed cases, 251 active, 539 recoveries, and 21 fatalities. These numbers continue to rise as Trauma Service Area (TSA) B is at a 26% COVID-19 hospitalization rate. Brownfield Regional Medical Center is at a 73% med surge, however, they are working on adding additional beds.

Joe Villarreal

Funeral service for Joe Villarreal Jr. were held at 2:00PM Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Abundant Harvest Church with Jerald Baldwin officiating. Burial followed in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Family visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2020 at Brownfield Funeral Home. Joe Villarreal Jr. of Brownfield, TX entered into eternal life Novemer 11, 2020. He was born to Joe T. Villarreal Sr and the late Rebecca O. Villarreal on April 16, 1965 in Lamesa, Texas. He attended Brownfield schools. In his youthful years he could be seen rebuilding motors and hotrodding his GMC pickup with his friends and his mom sometimes. His favorite pastime was raising horses and teaching his grandchildren how to ride. He was a past member of the Terry County Sheriff’s Posse and loved volunteering during rodeo season. He will be remembered for his passion for entering BBQ cook-offs; a joy that he shared with his family on many occasions. Joe was the owner of J & B Paint & Body Shop where he continued the art in restoring cars. Joe is proceeded in death by his brother Larry, mother Rebecca O. Villarreal and grandson Jonah Lucio. Survivors left to cherish his memory are his father Joe T. Villarreal Sr., his loving wife Monica Warren, daughters Tessa Lucio (Johnny), Jo’Ana Davis (Roy), Monica Gamez (Kevin), son JoSeth Villarreal (Dariann Martinez), stepsons Roddy Warren (Lindsey), Ross Warren (Genesis), stepdaughter Rheagan Warren, sisters Flora Alvarado (Rudy) and Sandra Villarreal (Rick Rodriguez), Eleven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. “You may be gone from our sight, but never gone from our hearts.”
