In this week’s Our Folks feature we visit with someone who can usually be found out in the county checking rain gauges and water wells for the South Plains Underground Water Conservation District (SPUWCD). Layne Marlow may not be originally from Brownfield or Terry County, but he sure does love it here. Marlow, a native Texan from the southwest city of El Paso made his way to Brownfield over 15 years ago and hasn’t looked back since.

Sports are back again with the UIL approval of all 1A-4A districts starting two-a-days on Monday. County schools, Brownfield, Wellman-Union and Meadow started bright and early Monday morning with cross country, football, volleyball and fall tennis. Two-a-days will continue for all districts until the start of school.
