Read moreThe old school located AT 1001 E Broadway was built eighty six years ago as a high school. Then as time went on it became a middle school. Now with the building of the new Brownfield High School it's time to decide what should be done with the abandoned and empty school on Broadway. A consideration that is currently being discussed is to tear down the main part of the building and save the gym and auditorium. However before further action can be taken experts such as architects and engineers need to evaluate the cost and benefit of a partial tear down. It could be decided that it is unreasonable to do a partial tear down because of the efforts and resources that would be needed to manage that task. If they do decide to save the gym and auditorium for future use those buildings will of course need to be brought up to standard modern building code, and when the school building adjacent is torn down a significant amount of rebuilding may be needed for the gym and auditorium. There is still plenty of time before any action will be taken regarding the building. A second goodbye tour will be offered in the summertime, before they go through any plans.
