Three Brownfield Police Vehicle Damaged In Chase

At approximately 10:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Brownfield police attempted to make a stop on a white four door Nissan that committed a moving violation in the 800 block of West Main. The subject in the Nissan, D’Treion Moore 18, evaded the Brownfield police officer in the Nissan and traveled to the east side of Brownfield where Moore would end up striking three Brownfield Police Department cruisers in the 1400 block of East Tate. Moore was arrested on scene and booked into the Terry County Law Enforcement Center (TCLEC) on charges of two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant, one count of evading arrest & detention with a vehicle, and one count of tampering/ fabricating physical evidence w/intent to impair. Moore is being held in the TCLEC on a $210,000 bond.

Alternative School Calendars Being Pushed

Amid the COVID-19 virus crisis, there has been a major impact to school students around the U.S. In Texas, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has come up with an alternative calendar plan for public schools if they choose to do it. TEA Commissioner Mike Morath has asked school districts to look into the possibility of changing their schedules with options that include an “intersessional calendar” that can extend traditional fall/winter/spring breaks, a year-round school model, and additional instructional days for grades pre-k through fifth.

USDA Announces Details of Direct Assistance to Farmers through the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program

(Washington, D.C., May 19, 2020) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced details of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP), which will provide up to $16 billion in direct payments to deliver relief to America’s farmers and ranchers impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to this direct support to farmers and ranchers, USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box program is partnering with regional and local distributors, whose workforces have been significantly impacted by the closure of many restaurants, hotels, and other food service entities, to purchase $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy, and meat and deliver boxes to Americans in need.
