Roy Glen McCalib, age 70, was born in Hobbs, NM to Jessie Everett McCalib and Betty Jewel McCullough McCalib on April 25, 1950. After one and half long years Roy lost his fight with cancer on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at his sisters home in Eunice, NM with his family by his side. Roy was a christian of the Baptist denomination. Roy is survived by his mother, Betty McCalib of Eunice NM, one son Roy (Shorty) McCalib Jr and wife Brandi of Lubbock, TX. One daughter, Shanda Mae Dawn Hathcock and husband Gary of Paris, TX. One sister Barbara Winter of Eunice, NM. Five grandchildren, McKinzie, Hunter, and Hudson McCalib of Lubbock, TX. Madison and Mackeniz Jackson of Paris, TX. Three nephews and one niece. Three aunts and two uncles. Roy is preceded in death by his father Jessie Everett McCalib, brother Howard McCalib, and one nephew Jessie Winters. The McCalib family moved to Brownfield, TX when Roy was young. He graduated from Brownfield High School. Roy worked many years at the family business, McCalib Services in the oil and gas industry. Roy was a member of the Terry County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Association where he participated in many rodeo activities. Roy later moved to Ruidoso, NM and then to Eunice, NM while still working in the oil and gas industry. Roy worked for his uncle Charlie Bettis at B&H Construction which became New Mexico Rentals. Cremation has taken place. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity or the American Cancer Society.

Burial will be in Terry County Cemetery under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home. Friends are welcome to join the family at the cemetery. He was born to the late Joseph Hugh Wilbourn and Winifred McDonald Wilbourn July 10, 1934 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Seagraves High School and attended Texas Tech University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He married Susie Jones May 16, 1959 in Seagraves. He retired as a Telephone Engineer with the General Telephone Company and was an active member of the Living Hope Foursquare Church. He was preceded in death by a sister Christine Henry and a grandson. Survivors include his wife, Susie of Brownfield, two sons Mark Wilbourn and wife Danna of Lubbock and Matthew Wilbourn and wife Lynna of Kempner, Texas; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Ratliff Funeral Home.
