The Brownfield Cubs varsity summer team is getting very good at thrilling come from behind victories. The Cubs faced off against Roosevelt one again on Friday, June 10. At the top of the first inning the Cubs struggled to put a competitive pitcher on the mound. Going through two pitchers in the inning the Cubs pitching would walk 6 batters all together. This would ultimately result in 6 runs across home plate. The score going into the bottom of the first inning was 6-0 Roosevelt. Here come the Cubs, The Cubs decided they didn’t want to be down by 6 anymore and put up 6 runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning. Leaving the first inning with an even score of 6-6.

On Tuesday, June 7 the Cubs matched up against Roosevelt to give the fans yet another great show. Multiple new faces on the team showed up and played hard and gained valuable new experience. The game was a constant back and forth with both teams making great plays but in the end the Cubs came out victorious 7-6.

Read moreThe Cubs came out on fire against Shallowater to open up their morning in the state 7 on 7 qualifier on Saturday, June 3. The Cubs drove down the field on their opening drive against Shallowater and scored, then converted the extra point. Shortly after they held Shallowater scoreless on the Mustangs opening drive. The next possession down the field the Brownfield Cubs scored but it was called back for a 4 second call. In 7 on 7 the quarterback can only drop back for 4 seconds, for any longer then that the play won’t count. The next possession the Mustangs did score but did not convert the extra point. The Cubs led going into the half 7-6. Coming out of the half Brownfield would score again on a short ball to Kayden Moore. The Cubs defense would once again hold strong and hold Shallowater. Coming into The Cubs next possession the score was 14-6 in favor of the Cubs, but the Cubs were not satisfied. The Cubs would once again go down the field and score with another short pass across the middle to Moore. The Cubs beat Shallowater for the teams first game of the morning 20-6.
