It was a high flying weekend in June as Brownfield had a very special sporting event take place. 806 High School Sports Connections hosted All-star games and competitions at Brownfield high’s new state of the art gym.
Read moreThe Cubs came out on fire against Shallowater to open up their morning in the state 7 on 7 qualifier on Saturday, June 3. The Cubs drove down the field on their opening drive against Shallowater and scored, then converted the extra point. Shortly after they held Shallowater scoreless on the Mustangs opening drive. The next possession down the field the Brownfield Cubs scored but it was called back for a 4 second call. In 7 on 7 the quarterback can only drop back for 4 seconds, for any longer then that the play won’t count. The next possession the Mustangs did score but did not convert the extra point. The Cubs led going into the half 7-6. Coming out of the half Brownfield would score again on a short ball to Kayden Moore. The Cubs defense would once again hold strong and hold Shallowater. Coming into The Cubs next possession the score was 14-6 in favor of the Cubs, but the Cubs were not satisfied. The Cubs would once again go down the field and score with another short pass across the middle to Moore. The Cubs beat Shallowater for the teams first game of the morning 20-6.

There are lots of sports camps hosted by Brownfield varsity coaches this time of year. Brownfield track Coach Valensuala is hosting her fun track camp this summer. It got underway on Tuesday, May 31. The track camp has 6 fun practices in the month of June and at the end of it all has there’s a track meet for everyone to enjoy. The fun part is that Brownfield won’t be the only one at this track meet, multiple schools come together at the end of the camp and hold a track meet to let the participants compete with more than just their peers.

Instead The Babe Ruth Baseball League opened up with a game against Denver City. The Cubs young team did not disappoint as they matched up against the Denver City Mustangs JV team for an hour and forty five minute time limit.
