Zarius Garcia is our Player of The Week. Garcia had a 3 run RBI against the the Alpine Bucks as well as being named MR. Cub at the athletic banquet on Monday, May 9. Garcia is also graduating on Friday, May 27. Garcia played his final game and was the only senior to play in the Cubs final game of the season against Shallowater on Saturday, May 14.

The Cubs held their own vs the #4 team in the state Shallowater when they played on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14. Although The Cubs lost both games against the highly regarded Mustangs, they performed better than expected. The predicted score going into the first game of a possible 3 games series was 24-1. The Cubs had played Shallowater once previously and lost 28-1. Game 1 was not what anyone expected for the first 4 innings.

The Meadow Golf team had a successful end to its season as the team competed in the state tournament on Monday, May 9 and Tuesday, May 10 at the Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle, Texas.

Kaitlyn Garcia has committed to sign to attend Johnson and Wales University in North Carolina to continue her athletic career and her education. Meriah Gonzalez has committed to sign to attend McMurry University to continue her track career and most importantly her education. Gonzalez was an important part of the track team this year where she competed in 5 events. She made it to regionals in the 4x200 M Relay, 200 M Dash, Triple Jump, Long Jump, and the 4x400 M relay. Gonzalez on the hard work and feeling of being able to sign to continue her career, “It feels amazing it was a lot of hard work to get where I am now. The coaches are amazing, they really pushed me to be better. Head coach Eric Morin set the tone for game 2 by giving his team a stern talk Before the start of the game. Coach Morin came in with a different coaching style than he normally HAS in the regular season. His laid-backapproach changed to a much more aggressive hands-on approach as The Cubs were facing elimination after losing game one to Alpine in a possible 3 game series.
