Cubs golf compete in first day of district meet

LUBBOCK – The Brownfield boys’ golf team competed in the first day of District 3-3A golf meet on Monday, March 28th at Shadow Hills Golf Course in Lubbock. The Cubs golfers played 18 holes in the first day and will finish the district meet on Wednesday, April 6th at Reese Golf Course in Lubbock for a spot as a team or as an individual in the Class 3A Regional golf meet.

Brownfield tennis earns 10th straight district title

Brownfield hosted the two-day District 3-3A tennis tournament that began Monday, March 28th and ended on Tuesday, March 29th. The Cubs and Lady Cubs tennis players went into the tournament as the nine-time defending district champions and were also playing for a chance to qualify for the Regional tennis meet in April. After having a girl’s and boy’s single and boys doubles team play in the play-in on Tuesday morning, Brownfield celebrated a 10th straight overall district championship and both the boys and girls district champions. The team celebrated with the championship trophy and earned two plaques to add to the already expanded list.

Darrianne Dorris

Mike and Deadra Dorris would like to announce their daughter, Darrianne Dorris’s graduation from West Texas A&M. She graduated in 2022 with honors and received a bachelor’s in athletic training. After graduating from Brownfield High School as salutatorian in 2018, she went to New Mexico Junior College on a full scholarship for athletic training. She graduated from New Mexico Junior College in 2020 with an Associates in Art with honors and an Associate of Science with honors. After graduation, she will attend Texas Tech to receive her Master’s in athletic training.

Broncos and Lady Broncos win district golf championship

SEMINOLE – The Meadow boys and girls golf teams competed and took first place overall at the District 7-1A golf meet at Gaines County Golf Course on Wednesday, March 30th. Meadow battled through strong winds and the cold to win the district titles. The district champions were not done with just winning the overall district titles, they also swept the top three spots in boys with Braden Smith in first place overall, Taylor Caswell in second, and Dylon Fabila in third. Tate McBee took first place individual medalist. The Lady Broncos took two of the top three overall spots with Nyomi Alvarado in first place and Andrea Fraire in third place. Head Coach Jonathon Alaniz spoke on his team’s performance.

Lady ‘Cats golf qualifies for regional

SEMINOLE - The Wellman boys and girls golf teams competed in the District 7-1A district golf meet at the Gaines County Golf Course. The district meet was held on Wednesday, March 30th under adverse weather conditions of strong winds and cold temperature. Despite the playing conditions the Lady ‘Cats team of Abbi Dyer, Kenzie Harp, Haylee Boshears, Tina Friesen, and Kamryn Murph came in second place to qualify for the regional meet as a team. Wildcat golfer Blake McClure is going to be the Wildcats only player at the regional meet. As a team the Wildcats came in third place missing the regionals by a spot. Head Coach Kody Bell spoke on his team’s performance.
