The #19 Lady Cubs volleyball team outshined again as they routed the Seminole Maidens in a three-set sweep 25-21, 25-23, and 25-18. Deja Johnson had 11 kills and Meriah Gonzalez had 10. Madison Hord saved the volley with 14 digs.

School districts required to report COVID-19 cases

On Thursday, August 27 state education officials announced that beginning September 8, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) will require school districts to file weekly reports on new COVID-19 cases among students, teachers and staff. Forms must be filled out by school administrators and will include any new COVID-19 cases and cases their schools were notified of from the previous week and will be based on whether the cases were contracted on or off campuses, and whether or not the entire campus was closed as a result.

Ninety years strong is impressive and when one looks at how that can be accomplished, look no further than long time Terry County resident Billy Joe Tidwell. Billy’s family got together recently to celebrate his 90th birthday, however Billy will celebrate his actual 90th birthday on Thursday. Billy was born to Mary Lehew, and Charley Houston Tidwell on September 3, 1930, in Bennington, Oklahoma.

Kenneth Ray Wenzel

Kenneth Ray Wenzel, 66, of Levelland, Texas, passed away on Friday August 28, 2020. Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 1, 2020, at College Ave Baptist Church in Levelland, Texas. He was born January 11, 1954 in Brownfield, Texas to parents Wilburn and Mildred Wenzel. Kenny worked in the oilfield all of his life and for Haliburton for 38 years of those as a Senior Tools Specialist. He retired from Halliburton in 2014 to open his own business. He never really knew how to not work. His passion outside of his family was drag racing. He had a love for speed and tinkering on his cars. He loved to golf, fish and travel with his friends and family.Kenny was the hardest worker anyone ever met and he taught his family how to work hard for what you want. He taught all of his family to never quit when things get hard. He was strong in discipline, with a sharp tongue but had the biggest heart; quick to run to the rescue for anyone in need. He loved and lived for his family. Kenneth met Angelia Wenzel in 1984; they were married a year later on May 13, 1985 in Levelland, Texas. Together they raised 4 children: Nicki McCarter, Crystal Haynie, Christina Nickel, and John Pichla. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilburn and Mildred Wenzel. Kenneth is survived by his wife Angie; kids John, Chrissy, Crystal and Nicki; 23 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; Brother Jerry Wenzel and Sister Patsy Burns.
