The Wellman-Union Lady Cats took to the volleyball court Saturday in a two game matchup against 2A Olton and 1A Wildorado. The Lady Cats notched their first win of the season against Olton, taking them out in a three set sweep 25-8, 25-10 and 25-20. After a brief break, the Lady Cats took on a great Wildorado team. Both teams matched up very well, the game went into five sets and two of five sets went into volleyball overtime. The Lady Cats took the first set into overtime winning 29-27. Wildorado took the second set 25-20, then the Lady Cats got the third 25-21. In the fourth set the Lady Cats fell to Wildorado losing 25-14. This set up a fifth set and the Lady Cats found themselves down 10-2. However with a few stops the Lady Cays rallied back to tie it 14-14. Wildorado ended up being too much for the Lady Cats and won the set and match 19-17. The Lady Cats are now 1-2 on the season.

Deja and Tia Johnson led the team with 12 and 11 kills, respectively, and Madison Hord had 25 digs. In their game against River Road, Tia and Deja Johnson had five kills each, Madison Hord had six digs and Gabi Fields had a few aces. The Lady Cubs will host Idalou Saturday, August 29 at 11 a.m..

According to DPS, the driver of a 2012 red Chevy Cruze, Lena Hildebrand (17) of Terry County failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a 2002 black Lincoln LS driven by Angel Rojas Jr. of Brownfield.

According to the Terry County Appraisal District, BRMC lost over $105.8 million in taxable property values of which $104 million was in mineral values.
