Lady Cubs Volleyball 3-0

The Lady Cubs volleyball team improved to 3-0 on Tuesday evening after defeating 4A Snyder in a three set sweep, 27- 25, 25-11, 25-20. Deja Johnson and Madison Hord had 3 aces each. Tia Johnson had 10 kills, followed by Brianna Franco with 6. Madison Hord had 15 digs, and Gabi Fields had 24 assists.The Lady Cubs travel to Shallowater to take on River Road and Shallowater today (Saturday). The games begin at 10 a.m.

Highlights of the game included Tia Johnson and Meriah leading the team with seven kills each, Madison Hord with ten digs and Gabi Field contributed several aces. The team is now 2-0 in their season and will play Shallowater and River Road on Saturday, August 22 starting at 10 a.m. in Shallowater.

The Brownfield Industrial Development Corporation (BIDCorp) Board held their August meeting on Monday. In the meeting they discussed the financial report, sale tax revenue, and heard from two business owners about new businesses coming to Brownfield and Terry County.

Weedon Hays

Graveside services for Weedon Hays 80, of Lubbock will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Resthaven Memorial Park. She passed from this life Saturday, August 15, 2020 in Lubbock. Weedon was born March 13, 1940 in Haskell Texas to the late Clyde and Cleta Kelley. She graduated with her Masters in Education from Abilene Christian College and taught in Abilene and Roswell. She later moved to Brownfield were she taught for the Brownfield Independent School District for over 30 years. Weedon was a faithful member of the Brownfield Church of Christ. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons; Bill Hays of Farmington, NM, Kelley Hays and wife Leigh of McKinney; granddaughter, Emily Hays and grandson, Joshua Hays.
